HOW IT WORKED
SoLook Media integrated mobile marketing to launch new Canadian McDonald’s restaurant locations now opened 24 hours. This SMS promotion had participants respond to 1 of 7 brand reinforcing keywords promoted within various media channels, for example “Text 24 HOUR to 889988”. SMS text message “calls to action” were featured on the radio, in various McDonald’s restaurants, within sports stadium signage, website, and promoted by the McDonald’s street team.
Upon entering participants received a text message back instructing them to text message WIN daily for additional chances to win. McDonald’s mobile event marketing had contest participants receive an exclusive text message announcement every Friday with details for that night’s live in-store radio event.
To end the successful mobile campaign, McDonald’s and the local radio station held a “flashmob” PJ Party at one of the 24 hour McDonald’s restaurants. All contest participants were notified only hours before the event with the location, time, and to wear pyjamas for great prizes to be won that night.
